Josh Giddey becomes very close to recording a quadruple double
March 26, 2025

Since Australian basketball star Josh Giddey of Melbourne was traded in the offseason from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Chicago Bulls, we have not talked much about his time in the Windy City. On Saturday, Giddey simply had a game for the ages. In a surprisingly dominant 146-115 Bulls win over the Los Angeles Lakers at crypto.com Arena, Giddey came very close to recording a quadruple double. Just how close? Well, Giddey was two steals away. He finished the game with 15 points, 17 assists, 10 rebounds and eight steals.
To put Giddey’s performance into perspective, only four players ever have had a quadruple double. It was a Chicago Bull player who was the first to accomplish the feat. Center Nate Thurmond of Akron, Ohio had 22 points, 14 rebounds, 13 assists and 12 blocks in a 120-115 Bulls overtime win over the Atlanta Hawks on October 18, 1974.
The second NBA player with a quadruple double was San Antonio Spurs shooting guard Alvin Robertson of Barberton, Ohio, who had 20 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals in a 120-114 Spurs win over the Phoenix Suns on February 18, 1986. The third NBA player with a quadruple double was Houston Rockets center Hakeem Olajuwon of Lagos, Nigeria, who had 18 points, 16 rebounds, 11 blocks and 10 assists in a 120-94 Rockets win over the Milwaukee Bucks on March 29, 1990. The last NBA player with a quadruple double was Spurs center David Robinson of Key West, Florida. He had 34 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 blocks in a 115-96 Spurs win over the Detroit Pistons on February 17, 1994.
The Bulls win over the Lakers was a huge upset. The Lakers entered the game as a 10.5 point underdog.
