Jim Furyk named United States captain for the 2027 Ryder Cup
April 28, 2026
Jim Furyk of West Chester, Pennsylvania has been named the American captain for the 2027 Ryder Cup in County Limerick, Ireland according to Golf Business News on Monday. This will be the second time that Furyk has been the Ryder Cup champion for the United States. He was also the Ryder Cup captain in 2018, when the United States went to France, and got their butts kicked by Team Europe by a score of 17.5 to 10.5. At the 2018 Ryder Cup, the winning Ryder Cup captain was Thomas Bjorn of Denmark.
Furyk has been a winning captain for the United States at a prestigious international team competition in the past. That was at the 2024 Presidents Cup in Montreal, Quebec. The United States beat the International Team that year 18.5 to 11.5.
As a player, Furyk was a major champion. He won the 2003 United States Open at the Olympia Fields Country Club in Illinois. Furyk posted a winning score of eight-under-par and beat Australian Stephen Leaney of Busselton by three strokes.
Team Europe has already announced their captain for the 2027 Ryder Cup. It will be Luke Donald of Hemel Hempstead Hertfordshire, England.Â
There is a saying in sports. ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.’ That is one of the reasons why Europe has gone back to Donald, who guided Europe to the 2023 and 2025 Ryder Cup titles.
Before we have the 2027 Ryder Cup, we have the 2026 Presidents Cup in Chicago. The American captain will be Brandt Snedeker, and the International captain will be 2006 United States Open champion Geoff Ogilvy of Adelaide.
