Week one of the 2026 NFL regular season completed on Monday night in Kansas City. Here are the top five headlines.
5) Bills win in Houston for the first time in 20 years.
The Buffalo Bills have had great success in recent years. So the fact that the Bills have not won in Houston since November 19, 2006 could come as a surprise. On Sunday afternoon, Bills quarterback Josh Allen of Furebaugh, California had 334 yards passing in a 36-31 Bills win over the Houston Texans. Two Bills eclipsed 100 yards receiving. Tight end Dalton Kincaid of Las Vegas, Nevada had five catches for 130 yards and wide receiver DJ Moore of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania had five catches for 100 receiving yards and a touchdown.
4) Carolina Panthers defense looks terrible.
The Panthers set a franchise record on Sunday for most points allowed in a single game (59) in a 59-37 loss to the Chicago Bears. Bears quarterback Caleb Williams had 269 yards passing, Bears running back D’Andre Swift of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania had 124 yards rushing and three touchdowns, and running back Kyle Monangai of Roseland, New Jersey had 100 yards rushing.
3) Lions avoid embarrassment.
The Detroit Lions were 6.5 point favourites to beat the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, but squeaked out a 31-30 overtime win. Detroit had a comfortable 21-0 lead midway through the third quarter before the Saints went on a 24-3 run. Detroit won in overtime because New Orleans was unable to get a two point conversion in the extra time.
2) Carson Wentz leads Vikings to win over Packers.
The Minnesota Vikings were down 22-10 to the Green Bay Packers in the third quarter without starting quarterback Kyler Murray, who left the game with a concussion. However, we saw excellence from Vikings quarterback Carson Wentz of Raleigh, North Carolina. Wentz had 133 yards passing and three touchdown passes in relief as the Vikings scored the last 27 points in the game en route to a 39-22 victory.
1) Derrick Henry moves to number three in NFL rushing touchdowns.
Ravens running back Derrick Henry is one of the greatest running backs of all-time. On Sunday, Henry moved to number three in all-time rushing touchdowns with 125 in a 41-23 Ravens win over the Indianapolis Colts. The only two running backs with more rushing touchdowns are Emmitt Smith (164) and LaDainian Tomlinson (145).
