The Boston Celtics are in the NBA Conference Finals after an unbelievable performance on Sunday by forward Jayson Tatum of St. Louis, Missouri. The Duke University product made NBA history by scoring the most points in a game seven ever. Tatum scored 51 points in a 112-88 Celtics win over the Philadelphia 76ers at Toronto Dominion Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. With the four games to three second round series victory, the Celtics will now play the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Final starting Wednesday.
Tatum broke the record previously set by Stephen Curry of Akron, Ohio. Curry had 50 points in a 120-100 Warriors win over the Sacramento Kings on April 20 in game seven of the first round.Â
This was the seventh time in Tatum’s NBA career he has had 50 points in a game. It was the second time he accomplished the feat in the postseason. Tatum also scored 50 on May 28, 2021 in a 125-119 Celtics win over the Brooklyn Nets in a first round playoff game.
