Gold Coast has delisted former No.1 draft pick Jamarra Ugle-Hagan, but the Suns have committed to selecting the key forward again at next month’s AFL draft.
The club confirmed the move in a statement on Friday, ahead of the AFL’s list lodgement deadline, saying it had “signalled” its “intent to select forwards Jamarra Ugle-Hagan and Elliott Himmelberg in next month’s Telstra AFL Draft after the pair were delisted today”.
Ugle-Hagan has agreed to terms on a one-year extension but must wait until the draft for his spot to be locked in, AFL.com.au reported. The draft will be held on Thursday, 19 November and Friday, 20 November.
Why the Suns made the move
Gold Coast is tight for list spots after bringing in three players during the trade period: Collingwood veteran Scott Pendlebury, and Hawthorn pair Aidan Schubert and Sam Butler.
Clubs must make at least three selections at the national draft, and that can include re-drafting players they have delisted. The Suns currently hold picks 8, 81, 85 and 103.

Ugle-Hagan joined the Suns from the Western Bulldogs at the end of 2025, with 7NEWS reporting he was traded for pick 74. He managed three senior games under Damien Hardwick in 2026 and needed to play 12 to automatically trigger a new one-year deal, Nine reported.
The 24-year-old battled knee and ankle injuries that required surgery during his first season on the Gold Coast, but showed flashes of his talent across 11 VFL games. The 2020 No.1 pick kicked a career-best 43 goals for the Bulldogs in 2024 and has played 70 AFL games.
Himmelberg and Jepson also sorted
Himmelberg played 50 AFL games for Adelaide but is yet to play a senior game for the Suns after a run of serious injury setbacks, the club said.

Midfielder Ben Jepson will stay at Gold Coast in 2027 after signing a one-year extension. The 25-year-old has played six games for the Suns since joining as a supplemental selection period signing ahead of the 2025 season.
Friday’s deadline brought a flurry of list moves across the competition, with 7NEWS reporting St Kilda has also committed to re-drafting Ryan Byrnes and Dan Butler in the rookie draft after delisting the pair.
