Houston Rockets go on a historic seven-game winning streak

In one of the most bizarre winning streaks in quite some time, the Houston Rockets have all of a sudden had a seven-game winning streak. Why this winning streak was so unexpected is because the Rockets had lost 15 games in a row right before winning seven straight. According to ESPN, the Rockets are the first team in NBA history to have a seven game winning streak and a 15 game losing streak in the same season. What makes this statistic remarkable is the fact that the Rockets lost 15 straight and then won seven straight in 22 consecutive games.

On Wednesday, the Rockets put together a remarkable upset. They defeated the Brooklyn Nets (whose leading scorer was former Rocket James Harden) 114-104, with a significant amount of less talent on their overall roster. But the fact that the Nets did not have their big three (missed Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant) definitely helped their cause.

The Rockets leading scorer on Monday was Eric Gordon, who had 21 points. Six Rockets reached double digits in points as Garrison Mathews had 19 points, Josh Christopher had 18 points off the bench, Armoni Brooks had 14 points, Christian Wood had 12 points and Jae’Sean Tate had 10 points. Wood had a double-double as he also had 15 rebounds.

The Rockets lost their 15th straight game on November 22, when they were beaten 108-90 to the Boston Celtics. Since then they have beaten the Chicago Bulls 118-113 on November 24, the Charlotte Hornets 146-143 in double overtime on November 27, the Oklahoma City Thunder 102-89 on November 29, and then again 114-110 on December 1, the Orlando Magic 118-116 on December 3, and then the New Orleans Pelicans 118-108 on December 5.
