Horses You Must Follow Next Start From Rosehill Last Saturday 7/12

Dean Watling has assessed the times and replays to find a list of horses to follow their next start. Take a look at the list below.

Word For Word

  • Race: 6
  • Distance: 1350m
  • Grade: Bm 78

The lightly raced 4yo So You Think mare was super in her first-up run this prep. In only her second start on a good surface, she surprised me by taking a sit off them 3 back, was expecting her to lead.

Looked to settle in a good rhythm, full of running at the top of the Rosehill straight but deadset got into an old fashion shoulder to shoulder war with subsequent winner Handspun. Swap the runs or she gets clear running in the straight its a bob of the head go.

Data to back up this eye-catching/ unlucky run, as expected her L200 – 11.34 was ranked 3rd fastest of the day as she’s rocketed the line. The key point to take out of it was her L400 – 22.42 6th fastest of the day after having all but no room, tells me we must follower her next two starts.

When To Bet

Rise to 1400-1600m now, very versatile, soft lead or an even tempo and a big open track.

Taniko

  • Race: 7
  • Distance: 1100m
  • Grade: BM 88

The Godolphin trained sprinter stepped out for her first run back this prep and all signs indicated a solid prep ahead. Was struggling to stick on to her accustomed racing pattern at the rear off a solid tempo up front +0.15, was pushed along before the bend chasing, copped a slight check at the 400m but let down seamlessly through her gears to hit the line hard.

Fastest L1000 – L200 of the day wow, off a first-up run. The only horse to break 33.00 running home L600 – 32.98 that’s low flying.

When To Bet

Key ingredients to Taniko’s winning is the tempo and ability to show her turn of foot. Big track to let down those gears and doesn’t mind the sting out of the ground. I would love to see her at 1200m now.

Fun Fact

  • Race: 4
  • Distance: 2000m
  • Grade: BM 78

What a tough effort for the Baker trained 4yo gelding. Had no right to be still kicking at the 50m when leading on a hot tempo +0.12 equal fastest of the day. Got out to his favored trip and showed all signs of a coming winner to me.

Love his race pattern and will to win, these two ingredients will get a horse a long way. Had to lug 58kg around and still recorded the 3rd fastest L200 – 12.06. Take note his L200 split was only 0.17 seconds slower than his L400m.

That’s a telling tale of a coming winner.

When To Bet

Look to either stay at 2000m or touch 2200m. He would relish a slow tempo soft lead but think his good enough to do it off a moderate tempo. Pattern key and the way rail is playing also.

Will go down swinging.
