Horses You Must Follow From Randwick Last Saturday 14/12

Our form analyst Dean Watling has assessed the times and replays from Randwick last Saturday to give you a list of horses to follow their next start.

Oriental Runner

  • Race: 6
  • Distance: 1200m
  • Grade: Listed

Took a freak performance to deny the 6yo gelding in the listed Razor-sharp. Took up the running and relaxed well, did have the majority of the favors out in front where he took them along at +0.37 but that’s the advantage of being a front runner. Love grit to keep finding and it took a peak performance to deny him a 4th career win.

When To Bet

Something Fast form ties in nice now and we can cash in next start. Slow to a moderate tempo where drawn nice and close.

I would love a drop back to BM78 – 1200m now where he can stack them up and run away with it.

Irithea

  • Race: 6
  • Distance: 1200m
  • Grade: Listed

Beautiful return from the 6yo Baker trained Snitzel Mare. Sat 3 deep the trip less than ideal but showed her natural heart to still be there fighting at the 100m mark, history shows she doesn’t love to win first-up but is always there about. 2nd up is our time to cash in, with 6 starts for 3 wins record.

On face value you would put that run down s fair but the more you look at it the more merit you add, 3 wide, first up 1200m, rivals are 2-3 races ahead. This is a group mare and is knocking on the door for a nice group 2/3 win.

When To Bet

Look for her to stay at 1200, fitter now and a big watch in the yard for improvement. Soft tempo will help but can win off moderate also. Keen to follow.

September Run

  • Race: 4
  • Distance: 1000m
  • Grade: Listed

A lot would have missed the run of this Exceed And Excel first starter, maybe you thought she pulled up lame? Take a look at the replay, she took jockey Tommy Berry via the carpark on the turn after struggling to tack on to this blistering 1000m Inglis Nursery.

Berry switched her on and watch her beautiful stride as she let down through the gears terrifically.

Times backed this up running race/meeting fastest L400 – 21.94 and L200m – 11.12 these were a big margin on the 2nd horse also. Has the world to learn but one thing you can’t teach is ability.

When To Bet

Keen to follow this 2yo to her next start, rise in distance needed and would love to see her back at Randwick or Rosehill. Every outing a bonus for experience.
