The Plunge’s Saturday Review: Horses You Must Follow From Randwick 2/1
January 4, 2021

A 2yo on the path to The Golden Slipper and a resilient gelding from the Ryan & Alexiou yard are the horses to follow from the first Saturday meeting of the new year at Kensington.
Four Moves Ahead
- Race 1
- Distance 1150m
- Class 2yo Handicap
This John Sargent trained 2yo looks to have as much quality as any juvenile we’ve seen this season. After consecutive barrier trial wins, the latest against older horses, Four Moves Ahead put it all together in her anticipated debut. She was first out of the gates but was forced to sit 3 wide on the leaders heels due to the wide gate. Tommy Berry peeled to the middle of the track and produced a dominant finish to win by 2.8L. The half sister to Emeralds, a horse J Sargent trained, will certainly be one to follow.
Where To Next
Sargent hasn’t nominated her for any of the black type races over the Queensland carnival so she may have 1 or 2 more starts in Sydney before being put away for a Golden Slipper preparation. She is $15 in that market.

Cisco Bay
- Race 8
- Distance 1550m
- Class BM 78
Cisco Bay was gallant in defeat to the fancied Snowfire over 1550m at Randwick on Saturday. James Innes slipped inside Snowfire who had led on the turn and it quickly became apparent that it was a race between two. Cisco Bay went a neck in front at the 100m but Snowfire kicked back on the line to win by the smallest of margins. The 3rd horse was 4.4L back.
Where To Next
Co trainers Ryan & Alexiou will now be pondering what Cisco Bay’s ideal distance is. So far this preparation the 6yo gelding had been racing like he would be best suited to 1800m race on a wet track. The way he was headed over the last few strides will cast doubt over whether he will benefit from being extended past 1600m. There are BM 78 races over both 1500m and 1800m next weekend at Randwick. Otherwise there are races over 1500m and 2000m in the same class at Rosehill in a fortnight.
