G1 Flight Stakes Preview & Analysis

With Libertini not among the final acceptors, this looks and interesting race. Here’s who Chris Camilleri is keen on in the G1 Fillies race.

Distance
  • 1600m
Track Conditions
  • Good (4)
  • Rail: 3m Entire

Randwick

Track Bias
Expecting a relatively even track with all runners getting their chance dependant on individual race pace.

Early Speed
  • Average

Funstar (2) should roll forward to take up the running at an average pace with Foxborough (1) also pushing forward from the inside draw, expecting St Covets Spirit (3) & Girls Are Ready (4) to sit behind the pace with Our Girl Sniti (5) & Probabeel (6) settling back.

Top Pick

Very keen on the New Zealand trained 2. Probabeel, both runs this preparation have been very good as the distances have risen and looks set to peak here third up out to 1600m. Had excuses first up in the Furious Stakes over 1200m where she was found to have some post-race issues, bounced back last start in the Tea Rose Stakes over 1400m sitting off the speed and flashing home to just miss at a meeting that was very tough to make ground at. Kerrin McEvoy will settle the daughter of Savabeel at the rear and will be strong at the end of 1600m.

Danger

The obvious and only danger is the Chris Waller trained 1. Funstar, the daughter of Adelaide got her head down at the right time last start over 1400m in the Tea Rose, she will lead this field and look the winner at the top of the straight but feel Probabeel will be stronger late over the 1600m.

Lay

The rest of the field, the top two are standouts and don’t see any of the other four runners finishing within 2-3 lengths from the eventual winner, Foxborough looks a clear third pick here for those that like to play trifectas.
