Randwick Race 5 – Paulele

Paulele is a promising sprinter from the Godolphin yard that is well suited returning to 3yo G2 grade after attempting G1 glory against the countries best sprinters in the Galaxy and TJ Smith over his last two starts. He was sensational in the TJ last start, closing off strongly for 2nd behind Nature Strip and Eduardo. Before that he was luckless when caught on heels in the Galaxy. He deserves this G2 to round out the prep.

Randwick Race 8 – Verry Elleegant

A mouth watering Championships grand final for some of the countries top middle distance weight for age stars! There is a case for Anamoe who had his best ever career win in the G1 Rosehill Guineas last start, where he won by 7L! Duais is the new mare on the block and shoots for 3 consecutive G1 wins after taking out the Australian Cup and the Tancred. Zaaki will be hoping for a firmer surface but cannot be discounted after taking out the All Star Mile in Melbourne and can Montefilia show her last start defeat of Verry Elleegant was no fluke?

Taking into account the mixed form lines, speed map and heavy track I have to be with the countries reigning horse of the year Verry Elleegant. She will appreciate the wet surface, will be out to avenge her defeat to Addeybb in this race last year and you know Chris Waller always has his stars primed for grand final day. I see her camping back in the field from the wide gate which I believe is a positive and producing her famous finish down the outside.

I believe taking the $3.2 on offer now is a smart move if you want to back her cause she will likely start closer to $2.5 once the public get on come race day.
