We’ve put together our best selections and a staking plan for the Provincial meeting at Gosford on Friday. Rail is true and track is currently a Soft 6 but with sun forecasted could see the track dry up. Gosford has a short 250m straight and heavily benefits those with a good turn of foot. With the good weather and top city jockeys saddling up should set up for a good day of racing.

Gosford Race 3

Our first selections comes in Race 3 which is a Maiden HCP over 1000m. The majority here are first starters with I Am Brazen making the best impression in terms of the market. There looks to be good speed here with Mancconi and Avaricious. Avaricious has shown impressive signs in the past without putting it all together. She resumes here with Jay Ford in the saddle jumping from barrier 3. Gets a track to suit and may be able to pull it together here. Centro Storico is the class horse of this field. Is first up here and has run strong enough first up to win here. Generally finds herself off the speed which is a negative here but should be strong enough to run a big race.

Gosford Race 7

Our next selections comes up in race 6, the C1 over 1100m. Good speed here with a couple speedy runners going forward including Winning Verse. She is strong first up and brings a strong formline to this race. Won her most recent trial and should come back well. She’s drawn wide but has the speed to deal with it. However she may give away a length to Head On Up who will also be up there from the soft draw. Head on up is third up and has finished second both starts this prep. Is wanting 1100m.

Gosford Race 8 

The day ends with a BM68 over 1600m. Big Surprise and New Tycoon bring the strongest recent form to this race finished 3rd 1.2L and 2nd 0.8L behind Majella in their last start. Majella has since come out and run a strong race in metro company to frank that form. Big Surprise gets a a 3.5kg weight swing on New Tycoon from that effort. He draws a tricky gate here but has the speed to overcome it.
