FREE: Belmont Selections: Wednesday 23rd November

Back to Belmont for this midweek program with the rail out 15m and a fair chunk of overnight rain potentially help off-set what I was expecting to be somewhat of an on-speed pattern.

Race 2 – 1:59PM TABTOUCH BETTER YOUR BET HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

9. Rear Admiral – 5. Gold Keeper – 3. Invincible Ruby – 4. Bleecker Street

Rear Admiral

Been really impressed with the trials of this Casey trained galloper heading into his debut today. Travels well, has terrific change up speed and looks to have gears we haven’t yet seen yet. The Caseys and Jordan Turner are absolutely on fire as a combination at the moment and suspect from the barrier she can hold up right on the towball of the leading pair. $5.00 more than a backable price on debut, think she looks a really nice filly.

Gold Keeper

Sticky map to contend with, but not losing on Gold Keeper off the back of a really impressive trial heading into today’s 1st up effort. Brings some really strong 2yo winter form through to this campaign, 2L off Revitup and Rumour Says and last time we saw him at the races he was very unlucky not to have been in the finish with Paddy’s Lad when held up behind runners for the majority of the straight. Needs some luck for Harvey from barrier 9 but if he gets some, he’s more than capable of taking this out.

Race 7 – 5:10PM FURPHY HANDICAP (2200 METRES)

9. Big Swoop – 5. Blue Card – 4. Grace Du Roi – 12. Reliable Choice

Big Swoop

Big Swoop was a monster run last time we saw him in a race shape that didn’t suit the sort of run he had. Drew barrier 15, endured a 3 wide no cover run on speed absorbing a hot tempo to boot and to have the nerve to kick back at Crezee over the last 100m when those that settled on-speed were nowhere to be seen was massive. Certainly put to bed the queries I had of him running out a strong 21-2200m. Finds a race here with far less tempo engaged and although drawn out again, expect O’Donnell (like the jockey change) to be able to roll across at his own leisure and be able to find a spot on-speed here without having to do anywhere near as much work. Marked him $4.00 and anything over than that I am happy to get involved, could even see each-way late.

Race 8 – 5:45PM MUMM CHAMPAGNE HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

8. Penny’s Afield – 5. Rockin Rupert – 2. War Gem – 12. Ninetyone Dwyer

Staking Plan

4.5 Units Staked.
