FREE: Ascot Selections Wednesday 7th December

Looks to be some strong form races early in the card tomorrow with a number of impressive triallers combating. Rail goes out to the 14m and perfect conditions for racing.

Race 1 – 1:09PM OWN THE DREAM 2023 COMING SOON MAIDEN (1000 METRES)

3. Art Of Sabrage – 4. Lieutenant Dunbar – 12. Toronado Magic – 5. Paddy’s Flyin

Art Of Sabrage

Pretty keen to follow this Simon Miller trained gelding into his debut off the back of two very impressive trial performances to date. Very impressive when not asked for an effort coasting through the line at the first of those behind subsequent winner and Saturday 3yo place-getter Hang Glider, before most recent ridden a little more positive from the barriers, sat outside leader and put them away in a matter of strides, looks to have some very nice gears. Needs a bit of luck from a sticky draw but there doesn’t appear to be a great deal of speed drawn underneath and think Carbery can land in the first 3 or 4.

Race 3 – 2:19PM BYRON BAY PREMIUM LAGER HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

1. Brave Venture – 5. Sabino – 6. War Hymn – 4. Galancy

Brave Venture

Really liked what this gelding did in his first preparation and off the back of his very stylish recent trial win where he sat a lot closer than usual, he seems to have come back in very good order. Unlucky not to have won on debut when only beaten by a smart type in Keep Attacking, before going on to take out a strong 3yo event at his next start. Recent trial very slick, drawn to hold up a position here from barrier 2 and Brad Parnham riding as good as ever at the moment. Has some weight to lug but it doesn’t really worry me too much, he’s a big horse and gives the impression it won’t hinder him. $3.20 looks a nice price.

Think Sabino a big improver. Big drifter on betting fresh off the back of two ultra-impressive trials told the story and has already had some support here at odds early. Drops some good weight here for Luke Campbell after the claim who is another riding super at the moment, think he can be a big improver with the run under the belt.

Race 4 – 2:54PM SEACORP HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

4. Ninetyone Dwyer – 5. Treasured Prize – 8. Red Cadillac – 2. Belle’s Fantasy

Ninetyone Dwyer

Doesn’t win out of turn, but she is racing super at the moment and this is the grade she is looking for. Hit the line well for 2nd last start over this trip behind Vitalize in a race that has already held up as a form reference with Dani Bella a subsequent winner of the Grandstand Cup at Pinjarra on Sunday. Start prior to that in a Saturday 60+ very unlucky not to have finished a lot closer in a strong field when held up virtually the entirety of the straight. Draws far better here off the inside peg as it allows her to stay out of any trouble midfield or potentially just better than. A few queries around other runner at the top of the market here, to me, she looks ready to win and this is the most suitable race all preparation.

Race 6 – 4:10PM MORLEY GROWERS MARKET HANDICAP (1800 METRES)

2. Chiclett – 6. Soviet Spy – 3. Henchard – 1. Surveillance

Race 7 – 4:40PM TABTOUCH – BETTER YOUR BET HANDICAP (1800 METRES)

2. Cartanera – 11. Masaru – 4. Kerman Rock – 6. She’s Our Witness

Cartanera

Very good placement back into a CL1 here about Cartanera, who you would think is the best placed horse on the program. Steps out now to a distance she is looking for at 1800m after two runs this prpe at the 1400m, both have been super efforts in much deeper fields than this. We know through the winter she was beaten only a length in the Belmont Oaks over the 2000m so the rise in distance is certainly no issue and there really is a lack of depth to this field with the main dangers I have mapped to be even further back than she is in this. Without encountering any real bad luck, she looks very hard to beat and I marked her shorter than her current $2.50 quote.

Kerman Rock the runner of interest just starting to creep down in the ratings having performed well in much stronger races than this. The two runs so far haven’t been as bad as they look on paper and in a race without a great deal of speed involved, looks tailor made for him to press on and potentially even take this up. Maybe a start or two early, but he is a big improver here out to the 1800m with the run he looks to get. $23 I think is overs, just struggles to win.

Race 8 – 5:15PM ALL FLAGS SIGNS AND BANNERS HANDICAP (1800 METRES)

3. Strike Now – 1. Stay Safe – 4. Stylax – 6. Dad’s Bigheaded
