St John
Don’t mind what this horse has done so far in his career. Stuck on really well last start behind Rebelzone after doing a mountain of work early and a torrid run in transit. The start prior was far from disgraced behind Harmika and Otheroneson in a much, much stronger race than this. Should land in a terrific spot here for pickup jockey Laqdra Ramoly and is more than capable of taking this out.
2 Units WIN
Zephyra
Been in the trial black book for a while. Filly by Demerit has had the 2 trials over the 1000m so far, both have been very hard to miss. 1st one, missed the kick horribly but once she straightened for home and got through her gears Faithfull couldn’t keep a hold of her, she absolutely motored home along the inside while the most recent under very little urgings from Carbery really hit the line strongly after again missing the kick. The obvious knock is that she’s not a good beginner at all, she will be back last but I think she looks to have by far the best turn of foot in this field, if they can make ground I wouldn’t be surprised if she zaps them.
1 Unit WIN

Race 6 – 4:10PM CROWN PERTH HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
7. Lady Tornado – 3. War Gem – 1. He’s Gold – 5. Above The Peg
Lady Tornado
Completely unsuited 1st up over the 1000m. It was too short for her and the way she hit the line screamed of a horse looking for 1200m and beyond, her work through the line once she had wound up was terrific. She’ll take plenty of improvement out of that run and finds a very winnable race here and gains the services of CJP. He’s going to need some luck if he wants to keep her off the fence, they way she begins he’s every chance to be stuck 3 back the fence here, but she profiles as the one here for me, marked $3.10 and happy to get involved at anything upwards of $3.50 BSP.
1.5 Units WIN @$3.50+ BSP
Race 7 – 4:45PM QUAYCLEAN HANDICAP (1800 METRES)
1. Cable Guy – 12. Talented Escape – 2. Celebrity Witness – 3. Baramagic
Cable Guy
Was with him last start at a big price and off the back of that run and how big it was, simply have to follow up here. Sat 3 wide without cover absorbing a very hot tempo in a 66+ and to still be there fighting out the finish at the post was huge, he’s flying. Significant drop in grade here, maps for a beautiful run, small query at the journey but going to trust that he is going better than ever.
2 Units WIN
Talented Escape
Going to have something small on Talented Escape here who I thought was huge 1st up down in Albany. Slight tax on Jett at the moment but think there’s definitely an opportunity for him to come across and find the breeze here. He’s over my price.
0.5 Units WIN
Race 8 – 5:20PM SCHWEPPES HANDICAP (1600 METRES)
