Five NFL stars who disagree with proposed rule changes
February 22, 2020

The National Football League announced they are proposing two rule changes for the upcoming future. However their idea of increasing the regular season schedule from 16 to 17 games is getting minimal support on the world wide web, and there has been a lot of questions to the NFL’s owners idea of increasing the number of playoff teams each year from 12 to 14. There is an overall general belief of why fix something that works great? Here are five players according to the Sporting News who have already spoken out.
1)Leonard Fournette–Jacksonville Jaguars–The 25 year-old native of New Orleans went to Twitter to say “I disagree with 17 games”. Fournette, a running back, hasn’t commented yet on the increased playoff teams because possibly the Jaguars could benefit with an increase of teams making the postseason.
2) Joe Mixon–Cincinnati Bengals–The 24 year-old native of Oakley, California stated on Twitter “Honestly it would be nice as a running back before they agree to 17 games if they asked us what we thought. Just sayin” Mixon is just one of many players who realizes how hard playing just one game in the NFL actually is. It is not surprising that there is opposition here.
3) Allen Robinson–Chicago Bears–The 26 year old wide receiver from Detroit wrote a three word sentence with an exclamation mark. It was simply “Rip it Up!” Robinson appears to oppose the fact that there will be a cap of $250,000 for players to play the extra game. Believe it or not, but this is actually less than the average amount many players receive per game.
4) J.J. Watt–Houston Texans–In Twitter, Watt stated “Hard no on that proposed CBA.” Simply put, when Watt speaks people listen. The 30 year-old defensive end is considered one of the most well respected players in the NFL.
5) Richard Sherman–San Francisco 49ers–Sherman responded to Watt’s tweet saying “I am with you!”. A veteran cornerback at age 31, Sherman told Pro Football Talk that owners “are saying 17 so they can get to 18. And so that’s two more opportunities for players to risk their bodies, put their bodies on the line. And that’s what so ridiculous about it, and nobody calls them out.”
