EPL Matchweek 3 Preview: Our Expert Tips & Staking Plan

What a weekend we had in EPL gameweek two. Five winners from six selections for a very healthy profit to set us up for the season. We are sticking with the same strategy for week three – stick to what we knew coming into the season and don’t overreact to these early results.

  • +5.01 Units Of Profit
  • 46% ROI

Brighton v Manchester United, Amex Stadium

Last week Manchester United were our only loser but it isn’t going to put me off. As I mentioned before, in this early part of the season it is important to back your opinions and not overreact to results. United started the season a week later than the other teams and it showed. But going up against Brighton they can bounce back quickly and get their first win of the season after shaking off the cobwebs last week.

In this fixture last season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team were easy 3-0 winners and we can expect something similar again.

West Brom v Chelsea, The Hawthorns

Last week we saw West Brom destroyed by Everton and with all respect to the Toffees, Chelsea offer a much bigger threat. Frank Lampard’s team lost to Liverpool but were not helped by a red card shortly before half time. They bounced back with a big 6-0 cup win in the week and they can do so again.

There is not much value in Chelsea right now but with West Brom’s frailties at the back, combine it with over 2.5 goals to improve the odds. We can also combine Timo Werner to score and Chelsea to win.

Sheffield United v Leeds, Bramall Lane

Leeds have made their return to the Premier League with a bang. Seven goals in each of their first two games with a 4-3 loss to Liverpool and a 4-3 win over Fulham.

Sheffield United on the other hand have been disappointing coming off an impressive season. They have losses to Aston Villa and Wolves and just do not look as sharp as you’d hope. Yet to get off the mark this season it would look tough for them to keep up with the free flowing attack of their opponents. A local derby means this one is going to stick as just a one unit play, but there is no evidence to say we shouldn’t be confident in a Leeds victory.

Tottenham v Newcastle, White Hart Lane

Spurs looked very good in a big win over Southampton last week and with their Europa League games, they are an extra game or two ahead of most teams as they build into the season. They had a  comfortable win in the week and they can carry the momentum of the past 10 days where they have picked up three straight wins into this one.

Newcastle just lack the quality to really compete with the likes of Tottenham at the top end of the league. They were really poor against Brighton last weekend.

We are going to stay away from the total bet as this one does have the potential to be a low quality game, so just back Tottenham to pick up the three points.

Liverpool v Arsenal, Anfield

The game of the week sees two of the five teams to open up with two wins go up against each other.

Arsenal have been much improved under Mike Arteta but they do still have some issues. They can really struggle to create chances and last week’s win over West Ham was more evidence of that. They found a way to win despite being poor throughout a lot of it. But Arteta has an excellent system to go up against the better teams like Liverpool and the counter attacking style could work well.

Liverpool won last week but things were very tight with 11 men apiece. Once Chelsea went down to 10 following a red card things swung in Liverpool’s favour but they haven’t quite found the form of last season yet.

This is a really tight game and picking a winner is tough. The styles match up very well and it could end in a bit of a stalemate. Take the value in the draw in this one.
