EPL Matchweek 1 Preview: Our Expert Tips & Staking Plan

The EPL is back & our new expert has taken a look at matchweek 1 & has come up with a handful of tips that you must follow & has placed them below.

Fulham v Arsenal, Saturday September 12, Craven Cottage

Arsenal have picked up the FA Cup and Community Shield in the past six weeks and they can use that momentum to get off to a fast start in the new Premier League season. Starman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang looks set to sign a new deal and he will be at the heart of anything good at the Emirates this season.

Fulham upset the odds to win promotion through the playoffs, and it will be a big test for Scott Parker’s men as they step up. They are the favourites to go straight back down and it would be no surprise if they are bottom come the end of the season. There is some top flight experience but probably not enough for them to survive.

It is hard to look past Arsenal here. They have a good record against Fulham over the years and should get their season off to a good start with Aubameyang starring.

Liverpool v Leeds, Sunday September 13, Anfield

The reigning champions kick off the season against one of the three newly promoted teams and while Leeds should put, it is hard to see this one going any way but to the home side. The Liverpool side is largely unchanged from that which ran away with the league last season and that continuity can only be a good thing with the shortened preseason.

Leeds on the other hand have done some big business since winning promotion. The biggest being the arrival of Rodrigo from Valencia. He hasn’t been the most prolific striker throughout his career, reaching double figures in La Liga just once three seasons ago. He is an intriguing fit with Leeds though but I wouldn’t be expecting huge things from him as a scorer.

Liverpool just have too much quality throughout the team and it could take Leeds some time to settle into life in the Premier League. Back Liverpool to win this one comfortably.

Tottenham v Everton, Monday September 14, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Tottenham have not lost in the past 15 games against Everton and they will be looking to continue that run here. This Everton side is very different to those of the past though. Carlo Ancelotti is in charge and former World Cup Golden Boot winner James Rodriguez is lining up for the Toffees. Ancelotti should certainly bring improvements going forward. They scored just 44 goals last season – a little over one a game – and they will need to up that number considerably if they are going to push for the top half this time out.

Spurs’ transfer activity has been a little underwhelming, even if they have made improvements with Hojberg coming in. With the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United making big improvements and neighbours Arsenal continuing to improve under Arteta it could be tough for them to work their way back into the Champions League. Jose Mourinho has historically made big improvements in year two at a club, but that has often come with a number of new signings. We are likely to see a lot of grinding wins for Spurs and it could well be the case here.

Both teams have issues going forward, whether that is with set up or just a lack of talent, and this one looks set to be a cagey opener. A draw and a low scoring game seems likely here with both getting up to speed in the new season.
