There were two National Football League players suspended for three games each this week. According to the Associated Press on Monday, the San Francisco 49ers have suspended linebacker De’Vondre Campbell three games and according to the Associated Press on Tuesday, the NFL has suspended defensive end Janarius Robinson for three games for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
Campbell of Fort Myers, Florida was suspended for refusing to enter Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. He was allegedly frustrated for losing his starting job. Campbell’s refusal to enter the game was considered as selfish by the 49ers coaching staff.
San Francisco lost 12-6 to the Rams, in what was considered a defensive battle. With the loss, San Francisco fell to a record of six wins and eight losses. In the offseason, the 49ers were considered Super Bowl contenders. Now they have a 1% chance of making the playoffs.
So far this season, Campbell has 79 combined tackles (44 solo tackles and 35 assisted tackles), three tackles for a loss, two pass deflections, and one quarterback hit. Campbell was an All-Pro linebacker with the Green Bay Packers in 2021.
This was the third legal problem Robinson has faced this year. According to Bill Williamson of SB Nation, Robinson of Panama City, Florida, was arrested for allegedly drinking and driving in Las Vegas in February, and according to Matthew Seeman of NBC News Las Vegas, Robinson also allegedly hit a woman along the Las Vegas strip. In 10 games this season, Robinson has five combined tackles (two solo tackles and three assisted tackles), two quarterback hits, one pass deflection, and half a sack.
