Delanie Walker announces retirement at age 38

According to Justin Melo of SB Nation, National Football League veteran tight end Delanie Walker of Pomona, California retired at the age of 38 on Tuesday. Walker spent 14 seasons in the NFL. He was with the San Francisco 49ers from 2006 to 2012, and then the Tennessee Titans from 2013 to 2019.
Walker missed nine games of the Titans season in 2019 because of an ankle injury. In 2020, he was released by the Titans on March 13 of that year, and expressed his concerns about signing with another team because of the coronavirus pandemic. The 202o NFL season did take place, but several games were rescheduled because of the high number of players who tested positive for the disease. In 2021, Walker was offered a workout by the 49ers to return to San Francisco, but did not make the team.
In 183 NFL games, Walker had 504 catches for 5888 yards and 36 touchdowns. From 2015 to 2017, he reached the Pro Bowl each season. Walker had a career-high 94 catches and 1088 yards in 2015. That year he also had six touchdowns. In 2016, Walker had a career high seven touchdown catches. He also had 65 catches for 800 yards. Then in 2017, Walker had 74 catches for 803 yards and three touchdowns.

Walker was better in his career with the Titans than the 49ers. In 84 games with the Titans, he had 381 catches for 4423 yards and 28 touchdown catches. In 99 games with the 49ers, Walker had 23 catches f0r 1465 yards and eight touchdown catches.
The Titans are currently in first place in the AFC South with a record of three wins and two losses. Tennessee is first in the division despite being a -22 when it comes to points for and against.
