Damian Lillard reaches 60 points for fourth time in his career

For the fourth time in his National Basketball Association career, Damian Lillard of Oakland, California scored 60 points in a NBA game on Wednesday. He accomplished the feat in a 134-124 Portland win over the Utah Jazz.
Lillard made 21 of 29 field goal attempts, nine of 15 three-pointers, and nine of 10 free throws. In 39 minutes and 33 seconds, he also added eight assists, seven rebounds, three steals, and was a +11.
Lillard’s career high in points is 61. He achieved the mark on January 20, 2020 in a 129-124 Portland win over the Golden State Warriors and then scored 61 points again in a 134-131 Portland win over the Dallas Mavericks on August 11, 2020. Lillard also scored 60 points in a 119-115 loss to the Brooklyn Nets on November 8, 2019.
This was the second time in 2023 that Lillard scored 50 points in a game. The first time came in a 119-113 Portland loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on January 12. In all, Lillard has reached the half century mark 16 times. Fourteen times have come in the regular season and twice in the playoffs.

Lillard’s 60 points are tied for the second most points in a game this season.  Luka Doncic also had 60 points for the Dallas Mavericks in a 126-121 win over the New York Knicks on December 27, while Donovan Mitchell had 71 points for the Cavaliers in a 145-134 win over the Chicago Bulls on January 2.
Lillard is now averaging 30.1 points per game, which is the sixth most in the NBA. With the win, the Trail Blazers improved to a record of 23 wins and 25 losses. They are tied with the Oklahoma City Thunder for 11th place in the Western Conference. The Thunder and Trail Blazers are half a game back of the Jazz for a spot in the play-in-tournament.
