Cowboys acquire defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins from Raiders
October 27, 2022
According to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News on Tuesday, the Dallas Cowboys acquired defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins of Dearborn Heights, Michigan from the Las Vegas Raiders. In addition to Hankins, the Cowboys received a seventh round draft pick in the 2024 National Football League Draft. The Raiders meanwhile received a sixth round draft pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
The Cowboys become Hankins’s fourth NFL franchise he has played for. He has previously played four seasons with the New York Giants from 2013 to 2016, one season with the Indianapolis Colts in 2017, and five seasons with the Raiders organization from 2018 to 2022.
In 2022, Hankins played five games for the Raiders and had 10 combined tackles (nine assisted tackles and one solo tackle), one quarterback hit and one pass deflection. It has been a tough season so far for the Raiders as they have a record of two wins and four losses after six games.

Haskins has also played two postseason games (one with the Giants in 2017 and one with the Raiders in 2022), and had six combined tackles (three solo tackles and three assisted tackles), one sack and one tackle for a loss.
Hankins played his college football at Ohio State before being drafted in the second round, 49th overall, by the Giants in the 2013 NFL Draft. The Cowboys made the move defensively prior to playing the Chicago Bears on Sunday. Chicago just had 243 rushing yards in their 33-14 Monday night win over the New England Patriots.
