The Indianapolis Colts have held trade talks with multiple teams about quarterback Daniel Jones ahead of Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
ESPN reported that the Baltimore Ravens were one team that checked in on Jones before they completed their trade for Jacoby Brissett with the Arizona Cardinals.
The Minnesota Vikings have been the subject of speculation and should not be ruled out, according to the report, as summarised by Bleacher Report. Carson Wentz is set to start for the Vikings against the Buffalo Bills on Monday night (US time) with Kyler Murray out with a hamstring injury.
Contract details that matter
Jones signed a two-year, US$88 million deal with the Colts in March that included a US$44 million signing bonus. His 2027 money includes a US$10.51 million injury guarantee that becomes fully guaranteed on 15 March, and the reports said Jones could waive that guarantee if he wanted to play elsewhere.

ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio noted the report named only the Ravens as having checked in, and suggested the Vikings may be the only team with real interest unless a contender loses a starting quarterback to injury this weekend.
Colts already selling
Indianapolis are 2-6 after four straight defeats and have already traded guard Quenton Nelson to Seattle and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to San Francisco. Running back Jonathan Taylor has also been the subject of trade talk.
Jones is still expected to start against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday (US time). Coach Shane Steichen said this week: “But I do feel that Daniel gives the best chance to win right now.”
The trade deadline falls at 4pm ET on Tuesday, which is 8am AEDT on Wednesday 11 November.
