Josh Downs has asked the Indianapolis Colts for a trade, according to ESPN, a day after the rebuilding Colts sent Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner to NFC West contenders.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported the request on Wednesday, US time. The Colts have not announced any deal involving the 25-year-old receiver.
Downs did not deny the report when he spoke to the media soon after the news broke. “I’m open to whatever,” he said, via NFL.com. “Whatever comes my way, comes my way and we go from there.”
Colts fire sale continues
Indianapolis fell to 2-5 with a loss to the Minnesota Vikings and have since started moving veterans for draft picks under interim general manager Ed Dodds, after Chris Ballard was fired as general manager last week.
Nelson went to the Seattle Seahawks for a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick, while Buckner returned to the San Francisco 49ers for a 2027 fourth-round pick.

Downs said he was focused on Indianapolis’ next game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. “I’m here right now, I’m where my feet are,” he said. “We got the Jags this weekend. I’m in the game plan, so I’ve got to be ready to go.”
The NFL trade deadline is 4pm US Eastern time on Tuesday 10 November, which is 8am AEDT on Wednesday 11 November.
