Cody Bellinger And Mike Trout Win Major League Baseball’s MVP Awards

Two outfielders have won the 2019 Major League Baseball most valuable player awards. On Thursday, according to the Associated Press, Los Angeles Angels centerfielder Mike Trout of Vineland, New Jersey was named the American League most valuable player and Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder Cody Bellinger of Scottsdale, Arizona was named the National League most valuable player.
Bellinger batted .305 with 47 home runs and 115 runs batted in during the 2019 Major League Baseball regular season. He also led the National League with 351 total bases. Bellinger also had 121 runs, 170 hits, 34 doubles, three triples, 15 stolen bases, 95 walks, an on-base percentage of .406, a slugging percentage of .629, four sacrifices and three times was hit by a pitch. He put up these impressive numbers even though he led MLB with 21 intentional walks.
Bellinger got 19 of 30 first-place votes. Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich had 10 first-place votes and Washington Nationals third baseman Anthony Rendon had one first-place vote.

Trout led Major League Baseball with a .438 on-base percentage and the American League with a .645 slugging percentage. In 470 at bats in 2019, Trout had 45 home runs and 104 runs batted in. He also had 137 hits, 110 runs scored, 27 doubles, two triples, 11 stolen bases, 110 walks, 303 total bases, had 16 hit by pitches, four sacrifices and an American League-leading 14 intentional walks.
Trout won 17 of 30 first place votes. Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman was second with 13 first place votes.
Bellinger and Trout have something in common as they were both a rookie of the year. Bellinger received the honour in 2017 and Trout received the honour in 2012. This was Trout’s third career AL MVP award as he previously won in 2014 and 2016.
