The Los Angeles Clippers delivered the third biggest comeback of the 2025-26 National Basketball Association season on Friday. Down by 24 points with two minutes and five seconds into the second quarter, the Clippers came all the way back and beat the struggling Indiana Pacers by a single point.
At the time of the deficit, the Clippers were trailing the Pacers 45-21. However, over the last 33 minutes and 55 seconds, the Clippers went on a 93-68 run to win the game 114-113 at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The game winning shot was made by Clippers star small forward Kawhi Leonard of Los Angeles, California from eight feet with one second left. But what was stunning about the Clippers win was the fact that Pacers center Jay Huff was fouled at the buzzer and the Pacers down by one, and missed both free throws!
Four Clippers players reached double digits in points. Point guard Darius Garland of Gary, Indiana had 30 points, Leonard had 28 points, Canadian small forward Benedict Mathurin of Montreal, Quebec had 17 points, and center Brook Lopez of North Hollywood, California had 16 points. Garland and Mathurin both came to the Clippers at the trade deadline. Ironically, Garland is from Indiana, and Mathurin came to the Clippers from the Pacers.
The two biggest comebacks this season were by 25 points. The New Orleans Pelicans came back to beat the Houston Rockets 133-128 after being down 72-47 on December 18 and the San Antonio Spurs came back to beat the Clippers 116-112 after being down 75-50 on March 6. The Pacers regrouped and beat the Miami Heat 135-118 on Sunday for their second win in 20 games.
