Caulfield Preview: He’s In For Another Bright Campaign

STAR galloper Mr Brightside is expected to kick off his spring campaign in the same way he did last year by taking out the Group 2 P.B Lawrence Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.

Like last year Mr Brightside will be assisted by the presence of bold front runner Buffalo River who set the speed and finished third last year as he will contest the event again.

Co-trainer of Mr Brightside along with his brothers Ben and Will, JD Hayes said they believed the galloper had returned to racing in the same form as he was last campaign.

Mr Brightside established himself as Australia’s best miler in the autumn winning the All-Star Mile and then the Doncaster Mile (for a second time) at his past two starts.

The Hayes brothers will aim Mr Brightside for the Cox Plate but he will have his lead-in run this year in the King Charles Stakes at Randwick.

The Moroney stable believe Buffalo River is also in good condition and can run a cheeky race first-up.

PlayUp has installed Mr Brightside as a $2 favourite. Buffalo River is $34.

Second favourite is the Lindsey Smith trained Tuvalu at $6.50.
