CASCADIAN SUITED IN ALL-STAR MILE
March 16, 2024
JAMES Cummings is predicting the hectic tempo of the All-Star Mile could aid his under-rated veteran Cascadian’s chances of turning the tables on Mr Brightside.
In last year’s All-Star Mile at The Valley, Cascadian came from third last to finish second to Mr Brightside and he was only beaten a half a length.
Tomorrow at Caulfield, PlayUp has Mr Brightside as a $1.85 favourite and Cascadian a $12 chance.

Cummings speaking on RSN also pointed out that last year Cascadian went into the All-Star Mile second-up and he would be third-up at Caulfield on Saturday.
“This time he has that magic third-up pattern that Cascadian has reacted to before,” Cummings said.
“Think of his Doncaster win, think of his Australian Cup win last year.”
Cummings said Cascadian had had a more solid grounding in terms of preparation for the 2024 All-Star Mile.
“This is going to be a race run at more than just a genuine tempo, the type of pace that is really going to test these horses from a long way out,” he said.
“I like that Cascadian has had the extra run to be ready for that. He doesn’t need to get involved early, he can really forge home late.”
“He had the abbreviated preparation last time and is up and about now as the result of that.”
“We’ve sent him down to Melbourne this week in excellent condition, so there’s nothing for us to expect other than a very, very good effort.”
