The Milwaukee Bucks set a franchise record for most three-pointers in a playoff game with 22 on Monday according to ESPN. Milwaukee achieved the mark in a 132-98 win over the Miami Heat. With the victory, the Bucks took a 2-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals.
Bucks point guard Bryn Forbes led the team with six three-pointers. Pat Connaughton was second with five three-pointers, while Khris Middleton, the Bucks hero in game one of the series, made three three-pointers. Meanwhile, Bobby Portis made two three-pointers, and six Bucks players made one three-pointer each. They were Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday, Donte DiVincenzo, P.J. Tucker, Jordan Nwora, and Sam Merrill.
The previous record for most three-pointers by the Bucks in a playoff game was 20, which was set on April 30, 2019, in a 123-102 Bucks win over the Boston Celtics in game two of the Eastern Conference semifinals. Also on Monday, the Bucks set a franchise record for most points in the first half of a playoff game with 78. Their previous record was 77 in a 156-120 Bucks win over the Philadelphia 76ers in game three of the 1970 Eastern Conference Semifinals. Remarkably in this contest, the Bucks scored 79 points in the second half.
The most three-pointers a team has scored in a playoff game was 25. The Cleveland Cavaliers accomplished the feat in a 123-98 win over the Atlanta Hawks on May 4, 2016. The Cavaliers also have the NBA record for most first-half points in a playoff game with 86, in a 137-116 win over the Golden State Warriors in game four of the 2017 NBA Finals.
Ironically, this past season the Bucks set the NBA record for most three-pointers in a regular season game with 29. Their opponent on December 29 was also the Heat, as Milwaukee was victorious 144-97.
