Buccaneers wide receiver Cole Beasley retires at age 33
October 7, 2022

According to Tyler Greenawalt of Yahoo! Sports on Wednesday, National Football League wide receiver Cole Beasley of Dallas, Texas retired at the age of 33. Beasley spent 11 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys (2012 to 2018), Buffalo Bills (2019 to 2021), and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2022).
Beasley had not been with the Buccaneers for very long. He was signed to the Tampa Bay practice squad on September 21, before joining the active roster on September 24. In two games with Tampa Bay, Beasley had four catches for 17 yards.
Clearly, the Buccaneers were going elsewhere when it came to their receiving group. Russell Gage, Cameron Brate, Scott Miller were targeted more than Beasley by Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady in Tampa Bay’s 14-12 loss to the Green Bay Packers on September 25, and Beasley only had one target in the Buccaneers’s 41-31 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in primetime on Sunday night.

In 151 games, Beasley has 554 catches for 5726 yards and 34 touchdowns. He was selected to the All-Pro second team in 2019 while with the Bills. That year he had a career-high 967 receiving yards to go along with 82 catches and four touchdowns.
Beasley played his college football at Southern Methodist University. He went undrafted before starting his career with the Cowboys in 2012.
The Buccaneers got off to a strong start this season as they defeated the Dallas Cowboys 19-3 on the opening weekend, and then beat the New Orleans Saints 20-10 in week two. Tampa Bay’s defense had looked quite strong until this past weekend, when they gave up 417 total yards to an explosive Chiefs offense.
