Booker triple sinks Knicks as Suns win 6th in a row
November 27, 2023
A Devin Booker three-point make with 1.7 seconds on the clock proved the difference as an undermanned Suns squad came away from New York with a 116-113 win.
Booker was superb for Phoenix pouring in 28 points, five rebounds, and 11 assists whilst finishing a game-high +15.
Despite a substandard shooting night (10-of-25 from the field, 1-of-4 from three), Booker nailed the biggest shot of the game – a contested three from the right wing to give the Suns a three-point edge – with less than two seconds to play.
Jalen Brunson ‘s three-point attempt off the timeout dipped in but crawled out as the Suns pulled off a character-building win at The Garden.
With Kevin Durant (foot) and Bradley Beal (back) out, Eric Gordon (25 points, 9-fo13 shooting) stepped up for the Suns whilst Jordan Goodwin (14 points, five assists) and Jusuf Nurkić (eight points, 10 rebounds) also helped out.
The first half was dominated by the Suns who leapt out to 15-point advantage midway through the second quarter before a 22-7 third-quarter run saw the Knicks claim their first lead of the encounter.
With both teams trading buckets late, Phoenix scraped away a win by the barest of margins courtesy of Booker’s clutch three.
The Suns won the rebounding battle whilst shooting better percentages from the floor, three, and the stripe.
Brunson (35 points, eight assists) led the way for New York whilst Julius Randle (28 points, five rebounds) and Immanuel Quickley (18 points, 3-of-6 threes) also contributed.
The Knicks host Charlotte on Wednesday whilst the Suns are in Toronto on Thursday.
