Bondi Stakes Day Review: Horses You Must Follow Next Start

The inaugural Bondi Stakes at Randwick last Saturday was a success and there were a number of horses that were screaming follow me next start. Dean Watling has analysed the numbers and watched the replays to come up with a list of horses you must follow next start.

See You Soon
  • Race: 1
  • Distance: 1200m
  • Grade: Listed

Wow what debut by the home bred Jean Dubois trained 2yo filly. Trail leading in was solid and time aimed up to older horses on the morning. Sat 3 back the fence in the run where they went + 0.44 in the run, looked a touch awkward as they turned but balanced up and came off the heels of the $1MIL filly Close To Me and gave her wind burn. Fastest last 800,400,200m of the whole meeting. Home in 10.90 last 200m. Thats a fair effort on debut. She won easy and i think she can progress very quick. Look for a stronger grade now and sticking to sprint trips.

  • Race: 4
  • Distance: 1400m
  • Grade: Open Handicap

Was good late support for the Sargent trained mare. 2 very nice trials leading I think this mare is in for a nice prep. Was first up and gives these solid benchmark horses a 3 run advantage, sat out the back and tracked into it 4 wide. Went through her gears and peaked late. They went + 0.29 and was game to run on. Ran fastest L600 33.87. Looking for 1600m – 2000m now and will be ready to exploded.

Pancho
  • Race: 7
  • Distance: 1600m
  • Grade:Stakes

This Waller trained 3yo gelding caught my eye in the inaugural running of the $1MIL Bondi Stakes. Sat right out the back over the 1600m trip. Had the fired up Bottega in front of him the entire, less then ideal. Peeled very wide on the bend but quickly went through his gears. Went to the line matching motors with top end 3yo Kubrick. Loved the way he knuckled down found the line. Fastest sectionals home after sustaining a long run. Looks to want 1600m + now and will aim up perfectly.
