Week one of the 2026 NFL regular season completed on Monday night in Los Angeles. Here are the top five headlines from the week that was.
5) Travis Kelce shining as a married man.
One of the top headlines from the NFL offseason was that Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce of Westlake, Ohio married Taylor Swift. On Sunday night in Kansas City, Kelce had a memorable night as a married man with Swift in the stands. He had nine catches for 101 receiving yards and one touchdown as the Chiefs beat the Indianapolis Colts 33-30 in overtime.
4) Patriots defense stops Aaron Rodgers.
There is no doubt that Aaron Rodgers is a Hall of Fame quarterback. At age 42, Rodgers looked inefficient and slow in a dominant 20-3 New England Patriots win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Rodgers only had 187 passing yards and was sacked four times. The top Patriots defender was linebacker Christian Elliss of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, who had 12 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble.
3) Bears go from 59 points to three points scored.
It has been a topsy turvy first two weeks for the Chicago Bears. They went from scoring 59 points in week one to only scoring three points in week two. This past weekend, the Bears lost 9-3 to the Minnesota Vikings in a defensive battle.
2) Panthers go from allowing 59 points to three points.
It is equally bizarre what is going on in Carolina. After getting their butts kicked by the Bears in week one by a score of 59-37, they only gave up three points on Sunday in a 34-3 Carolina win over the Atlanta Falcons. Panthers linebacker Devin Lloyd of Kansas City, Missouri had nine tackles, two interceptions and one sack.
1) Dak Prescott becomes Cowboys’s all-time leader in touchdown passes.
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott of Sulphur, Louisiana set the Cowboys franchise record for most touchdown passes in a career with 249. Prescott broke the record with a 24 yard touchdown pass to CeeDee Lamb to complete the scoring with three minutes and seven seconds left in the fourth quarter in a 37-20 Cowboys win over the Washington Commanders. The old record belonged to Tony Romo of San Diego, California, who had 248 touchdown passes from 2006 to 2016.
