The Golden State Warriors have been urged to make one of the boldest trades in franchise history, with a new proposal suggesting they should move Stephen Curry to the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for rising star Dylan Harper.
The hypothetical blockbuster would mark the beginning of a new era in the Bay Area, with the Warriors landing the player many believe could become the franchise cornerstone once Curry retires. The proposal, however, remains purely speculative, with no indication either team is discussing such a deal.
Blockbuster Proposal Sends Curry to San Antonio
The trade idea, highlighted by Yahoo Sports and originally proposed by Heavy Sports, would see the Warriors receive:

- De’Aaron Fox
- Boston’s 2028 first-round pick
- A 2028 first-round pick swap from San Antonio
In return, the Spurs would acquire Stephen Curry in a move designed to pair the four-time NBA champion with Victor Wembanyama as San Antonio chases another NBA title.
There have been no reports that either franchise has discussed the proposal. It is an analyst’s trade scenario rather than a report of active negotiations.
Dylan Harper Viewed as Golden State’s Future
The centrepiece of the proposal is Harper, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
After an impressive rookie season with the Spurs, Harper has emerged as one of the NBA’s brightest young guards. He played a key role in San Antonio’s run to the 2026 NBA Finals, averaging 14.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists during the postseason, further strengthening his reputation as a future All-Star.

While Curry remains the face of the franchise, Golden State’s front office appears determined to avoid a lengthy rebuild once the NBA’s all-time leading three-point shooter eventually retires.
Would the Spurs Ever Consider It?
The biggest obstacle is San Antonio itself.
The Spurs have consistently viewed Harper as untouchable and see the 20-year-old as a vital part of their future alongside Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle. Harper’s rapid development during his rookie campaign has only reinforced that belief.
Although the proposal suggests San Antonio could consider sacrificing Harper to maximise Wembanyama’s championship window with Curry, there is no indication the Spurs are entertaining such a move.
