Bud Cauley of Daytona Beach, Florida won the 2026 RBC Canadian Open at the Osprey Valley Golf Club in Toronto, Ontario on Sunday. For Cauley, it was his first PGA tournament victory of his career. He is the fifth golfer this season to win on the PGA Tour for the first time. He follows Jacob Bridgeman of Inman, South Carolina (Genesis Invitational), Ricky Castillo of Yorba Linda, California (Puerto Rico Open), Alex Fitzpatrick of Sheffield, England (Zurich Classic of New Orleans), and Kristoffer Reitan of Oslo, Norway (Truist Championship).

Cauley’s win comes after a serious car accident in 2018 where he broke five ribs, broke his left leg and collapsed his lung from a car accident in Dublin, Ohio according to Tom D’Angelo of The Palm Beach Post. With the win, Cauley moves from 68th to 40th in the Official World Golf Rankings.

In the four rounds at the 2026 Canadian Open, Cauley posted a total score of -17. He beat 2022 United States Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick of Sheffield, England (Alex’s older brother) by two strokes. Victor Hovland of Oslo, Norway was the only other golfer in contention, as he was three strokes back at -14.

Cauley had a first round score of one-under-par 69, a second round score of seven-under-par 63, a third round score of four-under-par 66, and a fourth round score of five-under-par 65. Cauley’s most memorable shot came on the first hole in round two when he had an eagle. Cauley had a 298 yard tee shot, 237 yard approach shot, and a putt of 51 feet and six inches.
