Favourite Tempted put a stamp on The Everest preparations, bolting away from Savvy Hallie and Marhoona in the Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) at Randwick. Here’s what Chad Schofield and the beaten riders said.
It is always important to hear what the jockeys say after the race, as you can forgive a horse’s bad run or even find a winner next start, so head to the post-race comments below.
KING OF SPARTA (Alysha Collett) – 12th
Looks to improve off that.
WEEPING WOMAN (Regan Bayliss) – 11th
She had a lovely run. She was disappointing overall. Maybe she hasn’t come up as good this preparation.
MAZU (Rachel King) – 10th
Just had to do a lot of work today. A bit more pressure over the 1200m bought him undone late.
PLAINTIFF (Tim Clark) – 9th
Had a nice run. Travelled really well. Thought she was going to let rip and run into the placings but just couldn’t quite pick up the ground.
GENEROSITY (James McDonald) – 8th
She was really good from back in the field. Hard to go with the winner. She won too well. I thought she boxed on well.
KING OF ROSEAU (Tom Sherry) – 7th
He was excellent there. Really pleased with him. Probably looking for a bit further.
KING’S SECRET (Andrew Adkins) – 6th
He had the right run there. Set up well. I was a little disappointed the last furlong. The ground didn’t let him release that good sprint that he has got.
CABALLUS (Jason Collett) – 5th
He has gone well. Found that ground a bit testing for him. He is better on top of the ground. I was happy with that.
GRAFTERBURNERS (Adam Hyeronimus) – 4th
Is going really well. There is a good race for him. Hit a flat spot on the soft track. Gets things to go his way on a firmer track he’ll be right.
MARHOONA (Zac Lloyd) – 3rd
She is going super. She is trending the right way. She gets better with racing. Will be competitive wherever she goes.
SAVVY HALLIE (Nash Rawiller) – 2nd
She was awesome. The fight she showed to run second, I was bloody proud of her. We’ll leave it up to the team where we go from here. Never let us down again.
TEMPTED (Chad Schofield) – 1st
The problem is she runs past them in 50m so I don’t really know how to answer that. She is a machine.
The draw was tricky today but she got out cleanly, I got cover then circled up for home a long way from the leader. She has an amazing trait where she grabs the bit around the bend, locks on and is ready to explode.
You let her go and off she goes! I can’t wait to aim her at Ka Ying Rising. She is going to be ready to go and she is an amazing horse.
