Zane Harrison is on the verge of re-signing with the Gold Coast Titans until the end of 2030, Fox Sports has reported, with the young halfback set to turn down interest from the PNG Chiefs.
Fox Sports reported on Wednesday afternoon, citing CODE Sports, that Harrison is expected to sign a three-year extension to stay in Queensland. The Titans had not announced a new deal at the time of writing.
The timing matters. Harrison was less than five days away from hitting the open market when the report landed, with NRL free agency opening on 1 November.
Chiefs interest
Harrison is one of three halfbacks on the PNG Chiefs’ radar, along with Penrith’s Nathan Cleary and the Roosters’ Sam Walker, according to the report. He is now set to snub the expansion side.
The Sydney Morning Herald also reported on Wednesday that the Chiefs could turn their attention to Walker if they miss out on Cleary or Harrison.

The Titans’ long-term No.7
Seen as the club’s long-term halfback, Harrison made his NRL debut this season and played 10 more games before suffering a serious hamstring injury.
His contract talks have dragged on, with reports suggesting he could earn anywhere between $650,000 and $900,000 on his next deal.

Titans football boss Scott Sattler made the club’s position clear last week. “Zane wants to win premierships for this club,” Sattler told The Courier Mail.
“Zane is a Gold Coast junior and we would like to think we can offer him an opportunity in the coming years in an environment where he can continue to flourish,” he said.
Keeping Harrison would be a big boost for the Titans, who are set to lose rookie forward Cooper Bai at the end of the 2027 season. Fox Sports said the Chiefs are the frontrunners to sign Bai.
