Black Book: Horses You Must Follow From Wyong 10/1
January 11, 2026
The replays and sectionals have been reviewed from Saturday’s Metro meeting at Wyong. Our analyst has black booked a Bryce Heys gelding that made a great run from the rear and a Waller mare that will gain confidence from a dominant win.Â
Mailata
The Heys gelding was taken back and settled 2nd last from the wide gate. He made a sustained run long before the short Wyong straight and swept widest on the turn before producing a strong final 400m only to be beaten 0.5L by No Drama getting better splits through the middle of the field. I don’t want to be getting too carried away with the form from the BM78 at Wyong but I do feel he will be an improver jumping from a better gate on a bigger track.Â

Chica Mojito
The Waller mare has been a source of great frustration for followers taking a 24: 1-6-6 into yesterday but her 2L win in the Lakes should give her confidence in getting past the post 1st in future races. She made her run from the 600m and had ambled up to the leaders that were under the stick on the turn and never looked anything but the winner from there. An impressive win at big odds in a race that contained the likes of Robusto, Amor Victorious, Know Thyself and Gallant Star. It may be the win she needed to start fulfilling her true potential.Â
