Black Book: Horses You Must Follow From Sandown 4/2
February 7, 2023

Our form analyst has looked over the replays & sectional times from Sandown on Saturday and has placed his list of horses you must follow below.
FIRE
Ollie did the right thing and stalked Inundation although it was clear Fire was fired up and wanted to run. They took down Inundation but couldn’t hold off Tycoon Humma who in turn had stalked that pair. He could still be a lightweight Oakleigh Plate hope.
ZULFIQAR
Strong win in the Chairman’s Stakes with his big weight. He might be a bit under-rated in terms of the Blue Diamond. He ran a good time and was strong after the line indicating 1200 metres will be right up his alley.
BELMIA
Bel Esprit filly with a stack of talent but it was a horror watch on Saturday as wherever Craig Williams went in the straight he was surrounded by horses. RV Stewards noticed she was slow to begin and she was held up for clear running from the 500 metres until the passing the 200 metres. She was also steadied near the 400 metres when she was disappointed for a run between Field Of Praise and Harmonious Senora. Whether she would have beaten Benedetta is not certain but she would have stretched her.

UNUSUAL CULTURE
She’s building to a win and she looks in for her best campaign. Got back and worked home strongly for second behind British Columbia. She’s bred on staying lines and Maher and Eustace look ready to capitalise on that this time in.
GRAND PROMENADE
Great return from this talented galloper. His best work was late behind his stablemate Right You Are over 1800 metres when first-up. He stretched out well over the last 200 metres of the 1800 metres race running the third fastest last 200 metres of the event. It won’t surprise to see him step out over a longer journey for his next start.
