Black Book: Horses You Must Follow From Rosehill 21/2
February 22, 2026
The replays and sectionals have been reviewed from Saturday’s Hobartville meeting at Rosehill. Our analyst has black booked four runners that look to have big races in them over the autumn carnival.
Eviction Notice
The Waterhouse/Bott 2yo went around at big odds in the G2 Silver Slipper and I think he looks to have a win in him leading up to the Slipper after finishing 3.4L 2nd to the ultra impressive Stretan Ruler. He pinged the gates and found the lead with ease similar to what we saw from his 2 prior career starts. Whilst he was no match for the winner up the straight he did show massive improvement in his final 200m sectional holding off the likes of Hidrix and Incognito. I like the fact that he showed signs of strengthening up under fatigue. He was a 7L trial winner at the 2yo Kensington trial openers back in September. We won’t get $31 about him next start but there should still be value on offer.Â

Autumn Boy
I’m not going to be jumping off the Waller colt after his 1.4L 3rd in the Hobartville. The wide gate was a factor forcing him to settle 2nd last and circle the field on the turn. It took him a while to get through the gears with Ninja being off and gone by the time he rocketed home with a 11.32s final 200m. His 33.23s final 600m was the fastest of the race. The Randwick Guineas over a mile 2nd up is a target race where the blinkers will likely be applied to sharpen him up. If he draws a gate he will be hard to beat.Â

Attica
The Godolphin/Pride colt was another that turned in an eye-catcher in the Hobartville. After drifting back to last from the outside gate he took inside runs up the straight and hit the line like a horse that has 2000m written all over him. His 11.25s final furlong was the fastest of the race. The Rosehill Guineas over 2000m is the target but there could easily be a case made for him in the Randwick Guineas 2nd up provided he draws a gate.
Lazzura
Those that dived into the $2 may be hard to convince but I was really impressed by her 0.1L 2nd to Cinsault in the G2 Millie Fox. She settled a lot closer than I expected in 3rd and looked the winner when she cruised up to Cinsault at the 300m. Luckily for those that followed in on Cinsault, the Freedman mare benefited from the 4 runs under her belt this prep and fought back for a narrow victory. There was a 2.5L gap back to 3rd. I expect Lazzura to come on from that run and look just as impressive over the final 200m as she did at the top of the straight. The G3 Aspiration over a mile at Randwick in a fortnight looks a great next step where she has the tactical speed and the run under her belt.Â
