The replays and sectional times have been reviewed from Saturday’s Rosehill meeting. Our analyst has selected a trio of runners that look well placed to perform well heading into the spring.Â
Amusing
The newly recruited Waller/Godolphin mare kicked off life as a 4yo in fine fashion recording a 2.2L victory in the opener. She settled behind the leader and it never looked in doubt taking the inside run on straightening. They did benefit from first use of the Heavy 10 track but the time was only 0.01s slower than Headley Grange’s Open Handicap win later in the day. Waller will no doubt have improvement left in her heading into the spring where she looks capable of biting off a weaker stakes race for mares.
Without Parallel
The Matthew Dunn mare announced herself as a potential Kosciuszko contender with a brilliant 4.8L win in the 1200m Highway. The time stacked up being 0.02s quicker than Stardeel’s BM72 win two races later. I’m not convinced she is going to be good enough to beat the likes of Front Page and Gallant Star in the Country Feature on Everest Day but she no doubt has more wins in her on route to that race.
War Eternal
The Baker 7yo settled behind the leader but wasn’t suited to losing his position at the 1000m and ended up at the rear of the 4 horse field. He then had to work his way across the winner’s heels at the 200m before knuckling down to finish 0.7L 2nd.Â
