Black Book: Horses You Must Follow From Rosehill 13/9
September 14, 2025

The replays and sectional times have been reviewed from Saturday’s Rosehill meeting. Our analyst was to follow a pair of impressive Run to the Rose runners and an unlucky Godolphin sprinter thriving under Joe Pride.
Tempted
The Godolphin filly was outstanding winning the G2 Run to the Rose by 1.5L for new trainer Ciaron Maher. She defied the pattern of the day settling midfield and was able to get it done down the outside. Her 33.52s final 600m was outstanding. She sweated up noticeably pre-race and will be no doubt better moving forward into her campaign. The big question is whether it will be Golden Rose, Coolmore of the Everest.
Skyhook
Skyhook was an outstanding 1.6L 3rd in the Run to the Rose. He had a dream run 2 pairs back on the fence but when they straightened the runs weren’t there in a big field trying to stick tight to the lower lanes. When he saw clear running at the 200m he produced an 11.11s final 200m, which was the 2nd quickest of the race.Â

Kerguelen
The Godolphin 5yo was able to do what no other horse on the day was able to making signficant ground from the rear. He cost himself the race blowing the start and was then all over heels after turning. When he found clear running back on the inside he jumped out of the ground to finish 0.4L 3rd. Even with the costly start he would’ve won with even luck the final 400m. He looks to be going from strength to strength in Joe Pride’s stable and can be trusted to run well on all surfaces. It has to be a slight query that he has now been in work since May.
