The replays and sectional times have been reviewed from Saturday’s Randwick meeting. Our analyst has found a quartet of runners that it should pay to follow.

Brave One

It should pay to stick with the rising Hawkes after his tough 1.6L win. He sat 3-wide without cover on top of the speed and could’ve easily been forgiven for weakening the final furlong. Instead he picked up beautifully with his final 100m being the most impressive part of his race. The final 600m 34.45s for the race was the 2nd quickest of the day. He looks well suited to stepping up to a mile and could have multiple wins ahead this prep and likely gets map upside wherever he goes next.

Hollywood Hero

Another win isn’t far away for the Baker 5yo as he looks to be appreciating stepping out in trip. He settled 2nd last from the wide gate and made terrific ground late to run into a 0.8L 2nd against the pattern of the day. 2000m in similar company from a good gate looks a bet.

It’s A Knockout

The penny looks to have finally dropped after 8 career starts. She settled in behind the speed and gave nothing a chance powering away for a 4.4L win with the talented Oh Diamond Lil in 2nd. She ran 0.33s quicker than the Listed Civic Stakes in the following race. She looks more than capable of winning a black type race this time of year.

Headley Grange

The Pride 4yo is in outstanding form recording his 5th win from his last 9 starts, which also includes 4 2nds. He settled 5th and ran away to recorded a 0.6L win that was never in doubt. He likely heads to the South Grafton Cup where he would be terribly hard to beat with a decent gate.
