The replays and sectionals have been reviewed from Saturday’s Apollo/Expressway Stakes Day at Randwick. We’ve black booked a trio of runners that look capable of going on with it over the autumn.
Joliestar
The Waller mare was outstanding taking out the G2 Expressway by 1.1L. She jumped well allowing J Mac to land her in a perfect position in the 1-1. She looked in trouble at the top of the straight when Caballus kicked clear and she was forced to make her run inside Coal Crusher when he appeared to not handle the turn. It looked like being a nice 2nd when she still had 3L to make up at the 200m but an outstanding 11.27s final furlong saw her do it quite easy in the end. Giving Tentyris and Tempted weight looks her biggest hurdle moving forward. The G1 Canterbury Stakes over 1300m next start looks an ideal set up. She likely avoids both of them and would be mighty hard to beat if she can draw a middle gate.

Aeliana
Take nothing away from emerging superstar Autumn Glow in the G2 Apollo but Aeliana’s 2.6L 2nd shows she is ready to go to a new level this prep. She should a new tactical versatility settling 1 back inside Autumn Glow before being held up for a crucial stage from the top of the straight to the 250m. When she got clear galloping room it was too late but she did rattle off a nice 11.35s final 200m. She looks set for a mouth watering clash with Sir Delius heading towards the G1 Queen Elizabeth.Â

Weeping Woman
It’s rare to see a horse work from a BM78 through to Listed and G3 company winning 4 in a row but that is what Joe Pride’s Weeping Woman did leading all the way for a 1.1L win in the G3 Triscay Stakes. The race time was only 0.27s slower than Joliestar’s win in the Expressway. She likely kicks on the the Wenona Girl Stakes over the same track/distance in 3 weeks time where she would have to be a great chance to add to her streak.Â
