The replays and sectional times have been reviewed from Saturday’s Randwick meeting. Our analyst has found a Waller 2yo that is destined for the winner’s stall and an impressive O’Sbea & Charlton gelding that looks capable of progressing to black type races in the spring. Â
Crossbow
The Waller 2yo was heavily supported in the opener and found himself strung up behind the leader at a crucial stage from the 400m to the 250m. He hit the line nicely when the opening came to go down in a photo. His 34.3s final 600m was the quickest of the race. He will be well found in the market wherever he goes next but has to be followed.Â
Getafix
The O’Shea & Charlton 3yo has always shown immense ability throughout his 11 start career but poor race manners and lack of desire to win have let him down prior to his last 2 starts. He settled in his usual position backward of midfield and when Cool Jakey kicked at the furlong mark he looked to have way too much work to do. He produced some brilliant closing sectionals- 34.24s final 600m and 11.56s for the final 200m and was the only winner to make his way down the outside on the day. The 1.22.88 race time was 1.59s quicker than the BM78 in the following race. He could be ready to step up to some Listed and G3 handicaps in the early parts of the spring.Â
