The replays and sectional times have been analysed from Tuesday’s Big Dance meeting at Randwick. Our analyst has black booked a Hayes visitor that overcame some trouble to score and big win and a Beer/Carpenter mare that looks well placed heading to a G3 feature on her home track where she holds the track record.

Carbonados

The Hayes gelding looks to be one we can follow with confidence out of the meeting. He had been good in two Melbourne runs this prep having excuses 2nd up. He settled midfield in the small field and found himself all over heels on the turn before a run closed on him twice at vital stages. He exploded at the 150m to score a convincing 1.6L win. The 33.85s final 600m race time was slick and was 0.82s quicker than Estadio Mestalla’s over 1100m later in the day. I wouldn’t want to see him rising too sharply in class but if there’s a nice BM88 race on a big track in a couple of weeks he would be hard to beat.

The Beer/Carpenter mare was super winning the final race of the day over 1000m doing plenty wrong and copping even more bad luck. She was fast away as usual and found herself between runners on top of the speed before copping a bad squeeze at the top of the straight. If that wasn’t enough she wanted to run in every direction bar straight at the 300m before knuckling down to score a 0.1L win right on the line. They will no doubt they want to head to the Gong on the home track where she holds the 1000m track record. The race drew a top notch field last year so it will be a wait and see but she definitely has more wins in her.
