Black Book: Horses You Must Back Next Start From Canterbury 19/11

The replays and sectional times have been analysed from Wednesday’s Canterbury meeting. Our analyst has black booked a Waterhouse/Bott 3yo that broke his maiden in fast time at start 2 and a trio of runners out of what should be a strong form race.

Supermassive

The Waterhouse/Bott 3yo was worked hard out of the gates to find the lead but pinching a soft mid race sectional. He pinged away haflway up the straight the score a big 1.9L win over the heavily supported Sylph with a 4.1L gap back to 3rd. The 1.09.49 race time was 0.7s faster than the highly rated Tequila Baby in BM64 company later in the day. He looks one to follow with confidence towards Saturday grade.

Crepe Myrtle

The Pride/Godolphin mare took her record to 6: 3-2-0 with a gutsy 0.7L win over 1200m. She settled behind the speed and looked to have a lot to do when the heavily supported leader Swordplay kicked clear. She showed she has gears to dig in the final furlong to claim the Baker filly. She looks to be a future stakes winner.

Swordplay

The BM68 race won by Crepe Myrtle should be a race we can follow with confidence. Swordplay led on a hot tempo and showed a strong kick at the top of the straight only to be run down the final 100m. She finished 2.2L ahead of the 3rd horse. I’d love to see her having one more go in midweek company before stepping up in class.

United States

The well bred Waller colt is another to follow out of the race won by Crepe Myrtle. He was always a future watch without being a betting proposition getting back over an unsuitable Canterbury 1100m. He was detached from the field early settling 2nd last but really put in some fast closing sectionals with a 34.77s final 600m and and 11.82s final 200m both only 2nd to the winner. Watch out for him on a bigger track over 1400m.
