Bills sign linebacker Von Miller to a six-year deal worth $120 million
March 18, 2022

In a big free agent signing on Wednesday, the Buffalo Bills signed linebacker Von Miller to a six-year deal worth $120 million according to ESPN. What stands out about this deal is the length of the terms. Miller is currently 32 years of age, and will be 38 years old when the contract expires.
The Bills will be Miller’s third National Football League franchise. He previously played with the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Rams, winning a Super Bowl with each team. In fact in 2016, Miller was the Super Bowl MVP with the Broncos. Then this past season Miller was actually traded from the Broncos to the Rams before winning a Super Bowl in soCal.

In 2021, Miller had 50 combined tackles (33 solo tackles and 17 assisted tackles), 19 tackles for a loss, 17 quarterback hits, 9.5 sacks, one pass deflection, and one forced fumble. Then in the Rams’ four playoff games, he had 14 combined tackles (12 solo tackles and two assisted tackles), six tackles for a loss, six quarterback hits, four sacks, one pass deflection, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
One could make the argument that Miller has been an explosive force on the defensive side of the football ever since he joined the NFL. In his rookie season, he was named to the Pro Bowl and was named the Associated Press Defensive Rookie of the Year. He has since been selected to seven more Pro Bowls.
In addition to Miller, the Bills have signed tight end O.J. Howard of Prattville, Alabama to a one-year deal. Like Miller, Howard is a Super Bowl champion, having won with the Buccaneers in 2021. Last season in Tampa, Howard had 14 catches for 135 yards and one touchdown.
