Big Bash Preview: Adelaide Strikers vs Sydney Sixers
January 4, 2019
Match 22 of Big Bash 08 takes place at the Adelaide Oval when the Adelaide Strikers take on the Sydney Sixers.
Adelaide are coming off a strong win over the Renegades whilst Sixers are coming off an away win in the last over against the Heat.
The bowling department is the strength of both sides. Adelaide have a great mix of skills that is led by Afghani global superstar Rashid Khan. The leg spinner bamboozles opposition batsmen turning the ball both ways and is always a near certainty to secure 2-3 wickets for only 20 runs off his 4 overs.
The steep bounce and ferocious pace of tall quick Billy Stanlake will worry the Sixers during the powerplay and all-time Big Bash leading wicket taker, Ben Laughlin, will look to close out the innings with his cutters and change up deliveries.
The Sixers’ batting has been shaky all season. They have relied heavily on Jordan Silk to come in and nudge the ball around in order to keep them in games.
Moses Henriques was all class scoring 57 off 37 balls in the win against the Heat. They will need him to fire if they are going to win this one.
The Strikers possess a potent batting line-up led by Australian One Day VC Alex Carey. He and Jake Weatherald have a reputation for dismantling opposition attacks during powerplays.
Expecting the Adelaide bowlers to be too much for a Sixers batting lineup that has failed to take flight so far.
