FREE: Best Of The Best: Our Thursday Specials – Canterbury 10/3
March 9, 2022
Canterbury’s Wednesday meeting has been moved to Thursday with the hope of a drier tack. I’ve picked out an on-pace runner from the Portelli yard looking to break a run of minor placings and a stakes performed 3yo from the O’Shea yard who returns from a spell.

Canterbury Race 3 – Spitfire
- Trainer: G Portelli
- Jockey: R King
- Barrier: 6
Spitfire comes to this on the back of a 2nd and 3rd at this track and distance and in this grade. This doesn’t appear to be as difficult as his last two and his ability to control the race from the front is a big bonus.
Tip: 2 Units Win Spitfire @$5 with TopSport
Canterbury Race 8 – Cotehele
- Trainer: J O’Shea
- Jockey: H Bowman
- Barrier: 4
Cotehele returns from a spell here and you’d think the O’Shea camp would have some stronger races in mind over the carnival after he finished 4th behind Hilal and Coastwatch in the G3 Stan Fox last spring. His two return trials showed he is ready to fire 1st-up, where in the latest he peeled out from midfield on the turn and produced a winning finish.
Tip: 2 Units Win Cotehele @$4.8 withTopSport
